The 20th edition of this iconic event promises to be one of the highlights of the world’s sporting calendar. First staged in Florida in 1990, the event was named after club manufacturer Karsten Solheim, who together with his wife Louise, was the driving force behind its inception.
The Solheim Cup is fiercely contested biannually between Europe and USA, with teams of 12 players going head to head over three passionate days of competition. It follows the same format as The Ryder Cup, with 28 matches – eight foursomes and eight fourballs over the first two days and 12 singles on the final day.
